GERMAN APPLE CAKE
German Apple Cake, also known as “Apfelkuchen,” is a delectable dessert that hails from Germany. This traditional treat features a moist and tender cake base, often enriched with ingredients like butter and eggs, creating a satisfying texture. Slices of fresh apples are arranged on top of the cake batter, and a sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar enhances the fruity flavor as it bakes. The cake’s edges become slightly caramelized, adding an irresistible sweetness. It’s a beloved dessert enjoyed across Germany and beyond, frequently served with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgence.
Ingredients FOR THE DOUGH
3 eggs
90g of sugar
a pinch of salt
130g of flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
FOR THE CREAM
3 apples
750ml apple juice
45g of sugar
2 packages of vanilla flavored pudding (each 37g)
100 ml of apple juice.
STEP BY STEP
Step 1
Add the 3 eggs, sugar, and salt to a bowl and beat until smooth.

In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Little by little add to the previous mixture and beat again until everything is integrated.

Pour the mixture into a baking dish, spreading it all out evenly. You can help yourself with a spatula.

With the oven preheated previously, bake it for 25 minutes at 180 degrees.

After this time, remove it from the oven and let it cool. Once cold, unmold carefully and cut in half horizontally as if it were a sandwich.

Peel 3 apples, cut them into small pieces and take them to a frying pan. Add 750 ml of apple juice, 45 g of sugar and cook over medium heat, stirring gently so that it does not stick.

In a separate container, mix 100 ml of apple juice and 2 packets of vanilla flavored pudding and stir well until there are no lumps. When it’s ready, add it to the pan with the apple and keep stirring for a couple more minutes.

After this time, turn off the heat and the filling will be ready. Pour it on top of the cake base, flatten with a kitchen spatula until it is a completely smooth surface and let cool.

Meanwhile, in another bowl add the cream, the cream cheese and 60 grams of sugar and beat with enthusiasm.

Pour the mixture of cream, cream cheese and sugar on top of the apple layer, spread it well and leave it to cool for 4 hours in the fridge.

In the food processor, crush the upper layer that you will have obtained when cutting the cake at the beginning, sprinkle the result on top and serve.
