Whole wheat bread is a healthy and versatile option. Made with whole wheat flour, it is rich in fiber and nutrients. Ideal for sandwiches and toast, it contributes to a balanced diet.
Ingredients:
• 2 cups of whole wheat flour
• 1 cup of common wheat flour
• 1 ½ teaspoons of salt
• 1 tablespoon of honey or sugar
• 1 sachet of dry yeast (7-9 grams)
• 1 ¼ cups of warm water
• 2 tablespoons of olive oil or vegetable oil
Before preparing whole wheat bread, make sure you have all the ingredients ready and measured accurately for a delicious and healthy result.
Preparation:
- In a large bowl, mix the whole wheat and common wheat flours together with the salt. Make a small well in the center to add the liquid ingredients.
- In another small bowl, mix the honey or sugar with the dry yeast. Add ¼ cup warm water and mix lightly. Let sit for a few minutes until the mixture is bubbly.
- Pour the yeast mixture into the well in the center of the flours. Add the olive oil and the rest of the warm water.
- Begin mixing the ingredients until a dough forms. Then, knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, turn it out onto a floured surface and flatten it gently to degas it.
- Grease a loaf pan and place the dough in it, making sure it is evenly distributed.
- Cover the mold with a damp cloth and let the dough rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Bake the bread in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes before removing it from the pan. Then place it on a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into slices. Ready! Now you have a delicious homemade whole wheat bread. You can enjoy it as toast, sandwiches or as an accompaniment to your meals. Enjoy!
