Ham and cheese omelette
Ham and cheese omelette
The ham and cheese omelette is a classic dish that combines beaten eggs with pieces of ham and cheese, cooked over low heat until the mixture sets. It is a popular option for breakfast or brunch, offering a delicious balance between the salty flavors of ham and cheese, with the softness of eggs. Its versatility allows it to be customized with additional ingredients according to individual tastes.
Ingredients:
• 3 eggs
• 1/4 cup cooked ham, cut into cubes or strips
• 1/4 cup grated cheese (can be cheddar, mozzarella, Swiss, etc.)
• 2 tablespoons of milk
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 tablespoon butter or cooking oil
Before preparing a ham and cheese omelette, make sure you have all the ingredients ready and beat the eggs evenly to obtain a perfect texture.
Preparation:
- Crack the eggs into a bowl and beat with a fork or whisk until the whites and yolks are well mixed.
- Add the milk to the beaten eggs and mix again until everything is well incorporated. The milk will help make the omelette softer.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the butter or oil and let it melt or heat.
- Pour the egg mixture into the hot pan and let it cook for a few seconds without moving it.
- Using a spatula, begin to gently move the edges of the omelet toward the center, tilting the pan so the raw egg flows toward the edges.
- When most of the egg is cooked but there is still a little runny on top, add the cooked ham and grated cheese to half of the omelet.
- Fold the other half of the omelette over the ham and cheese, forming a kind of semicircle.
- Cook for a few more minutes, until the cheese is melted and the omelette is golden brown on both sides. You can gently press the center with the spatula to make sure it is cooked all the way through.
- Once the omelet is cooked to your liking, carefully slide it onto a plate.
- Ready to serve! You can accompany the omelet with toast, avocado, tomatoes or other ingredients of your choice. Enjoy your homemade ham and cheese omelette! You can customize the recipe by adding additional ingredients such as onion, peppers, spinach, mushrooms, etc., according to your preferences.
