Preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) cake pan.
2. In a large bowl, sift together the wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix these dry ingredients well and set aside.
3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the sugar. Continue blending until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Then, add the vegetable oil and vanilla extract and mix well.
4. Add the dry ingredient mixture to the egg and sugar mixture, and mix until all ingredients are well combined.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. While the cake is baking, prepare the tres leches mixture. In a large bowl, whisk together the condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream. Stir well to make sure they are completely combined.
7. When the cake is ready, take it out of the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Then, use a fork or toothpick to poke holes in the surface of the cake.
8. Pour the tres leches mixture over the cake, making sure it is well absorbed. Let the cake sit and absorb the tres leches for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
9. While the cake sits in the refrigerator, prepare the chocolate frosting. In a saucepan, combine the cocoa powder, heavy cream, sugar and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and begins to boil. Then, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
10. Pour the chocolate glaze over the chilled cake and spread it evenly.
11. Refrigerate the cake again for at least 2 hours or until very cold.
12. Serve the chocolate tres leches cake very cold and enjoy.
