Floating island

Floating island

This dessert is known as floating island, and it can be an excellent option to share with family and friends.  Although it can be a little complicated to prepare this dish, you will see that you will know how to prepare it quickly by following these steps.

Ingredients

• 300ml of milk (can be whole or skim milk)

• 3 egg yolks.

• A pinch of salt.

• ½ Can of condensed milk, the brand of your choice.

• A spoonful of vanilla essence.

• 5 egg whites.

• 235g of sugar.

• A little cold water.

• 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.

Steps

To perfectly prepare the floating island, it is recommended that you follow each of the steps explained below.  If you manage to follow each one, you will be able to have an excellent result.

Step 1

To prepare the cream, you must mix the condensed milk with the egg yolks, vanilla essence and milk.  After that, you will have to cook it over low heat, while mixing it frequently.

Step 2

You must remove it from the heat and strain it to prevent any lumps from passing through.  Next, find a cup and place the egg whites there.  To these, you will have to add salt and beat them for a couple of minutes.

Step 3

Then, proceed to add sugar and beat at a higher speed for 3 minutes.  This way you will be able to have the meringue you want.

Step 4

You must preheat the oven and cook the preparation in a bain-marie.  You have to cook it for 40 minutes, then turn off the oven and let it cool.  It is recommended that you let it cool for 8 hours.

Step 5

Later, unmold and serve it with caramel. You can also mix the lemon juice, water and sugar.  The idea is to proceed to cook it and make this syrup turn a darker shade, like honey.  You can now let it rest and proceed to serve it.

This way, you will have the floating island dessert ready to share with your family.  You can also be the center of attention with this exquisite dessert.
