Make sure you have all the ingredients and utensils ready to make delicious croissants and preheat the oven to the appropriate temperature. Enjoy baking!
Preparation
- Dissolve the yeast: In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Add a pinch of sugar and let it sit for a few minutes until it starts to foam.
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and sugar. Then, add the yeast and milk mixture, eggs and butter. Knead everything together until you get a soft and elastic dough. You can do it by hand or using a mixer.
- Resting the dough: Cover the dough with a clean, damp cloth and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Form the croissants: After resting, stretch the dough on a floured surface into a large, thin rectangle. Next, cut triangles of dough with a sharp knife. Roll each triangle from the base to the tip to form crescents and place them on a previously greased or parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Second rest: Cover the croissants with a clean, damp cloth and let them rest for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven: While the croissants rest, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Baking: Place the croissants in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Glaze: While the croissants are still hot, prepare a glaze by mixing powdered sugar with a little water until you obtain a thick paste. You can brush this glaze over the croissants to give them a shine and a touch of extra sweetness.
- Cool and enjoy: Let the croissants cool slightly before serving. Ready! Now you can enjoy your freshly baked croissants with a good coffee or tea. I hope this recipe is useful to you and that you enjoy your croissants!
