Crispy Fried Mushrooms

Crispy Fried Mushrooms

These extra-crispy fried mushrooms will outshine anything you’ve had at a restaurant. The secret to the recipe? A dip in beer batter and then panko.

Ingredients:

– 12-15 cremini mushrooms
– 150 g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
– 60 g (½ cup) cornstarch
– 3 g (¾ tsp) baking powder
– 15 ml (1 tbsp) soy sauce
– 1 garlic clove, minced
– 250 ml (1 cup) water
– 250g (2 cups) breadcrumbs
– Vegetable oil for frying

Preparation:

1. Begin by cleaning the cremini mushrooms, ensuring they are free of any dirt or debris. Trim the stems if necessary.

2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and baking powder until well combined. Add the minced garlic, soy sauce, and water to the dry ingredients, and whisk vigorously until a smooth batter forms, ensuring there are no lumps.

3. Place the cleaned mushrooms into the batter, making sure they are fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off the mushrooms.

4. Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish or plate. Roll each battered mushroom in the breadcrumbs until they are evenly coated.

5. In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C).

6. Carefully place the breaded mushrooms into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the mushrooms for about 5 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy, turning them occasionally for even cooking.

7. Once the mushrooms are crispy and golden, use a slotted spoon or tongs to transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

8. Serve the crispy fried mushrooms hot as a delicious appetizer or snack, optionally accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce.

Enjoy these irresistible crispy fried mushrooms as a delightful and flavorful treat!
