SUGARED DONUTS

SUGARED DONUTS

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups of wheat flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
½ cup of sugar
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
½ cup of milk
2 tablespoons of melted butter
Oil for frying
Sugar for sprinkling

Preparation:

1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs, add the milk and melted butter. Then, incorporate the liquid mixture into the dry mixture and stir until it forms a homogeneous dough.

2. On a floured surface, knead the mixture until it is smooth. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin until it is approximately 1 cm thick. Use a donut cutter or two circular cutters (one large and one small) to shape it.

3. Heat enough oil in a deep frying pan or deep fryer over medium heat.  When the oil is very hot (170-180°C), fry the doughnuts in batches, turning once, until golden brown on both sides (about 2-3 minutes per side).

4. Remove the doughnuts from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on absorbent paper to remove excess fat.

5. While they are still warm, sprinkle the doughnuts with sugar or roll them in a bowl of sugar to help it stick better.
