Broccoli and Ground Beef Casserole

📌 With recipe
Mmm, our broccoli and ground beef casserole is super delicious! You’ll be making this simple recipe with ground beef again and again from now on – maybe even with other vegetables like cauliflower!

INGREDIENTS

1 broccoli
A little salt
1 medium onion
1-2 garlic cloves
1 carrot
4 tbsp sunflower oil
400g ground beef
A little freshly ground white pepper
250g heavy cream
125g sour cream
2 eggs
1 pinch of ground nutmeg
200g grated cheese (e.g., Gouda or Emmental)

PREPARATION

1. Cut the broccoli into florets and boil in well-salted water for about 4 minutes, until it’s still firm to the bite.  Drain the broccoli and rinse with cold water until completely cool.

2. Peel the onion and garlic and finely dice. Peel and dice the carrot.

3. Heat the sunflower oil in a pan and first fry the minced meat for about 2 minutes at high heat, then add the carrots, onion, and garlic and fry for another 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and remove from the heat. Preheat the oven to 175°C fan/convection oven (195°C top and bottom heat).

4. Pour the cream and sour cream into a measuring jug and stir in the eggs. It’s best to mix thoroughly with a mixer. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg and mix again well.

5. Cover the bottom of a baking dish with some of the cream and egg mixture, mix the minced meat and broccoli well in the pan, and spread the mixture evenly over the baking dish.  Pour the remaining cream and egg mixture over the top and sprinkle with cheese. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy!
