Chocolate Orange Loaf Cake
Ingredients
For the cake:
1 ½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
¾ cup (150 g) sugar
2 large eggs
½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
½ cup (120 ml) milk
¼ cup (60 ml) fresh orange juice
1 tbsp orange zest
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the chocolate glaze:
150 g dark chocolate
½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream
1 tbsp butter (optional, for shine)
Garnish:
Orange slices or orange zest (optional)

Instructions
1. Prepare the oven and pan
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
2. Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Mix wet ingredients
In another bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until smooth.
Add oil, milk, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla. Mix well.
4. Combine
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
Mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
5. Bake
Pour batter into loaf pan.
Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool completely.
6. Make the glaze
Heat cream until hot (not boiling).
Pour over chopped chocolate.
Wait 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
Add butter if desired.
7. Decorate
Pour glaze over cooled cake.
Garnish with orange slices.
Tips
Orange enhances the chocolate flavor.
Let cake cool before glazing or the glaze will melt off.
Store covered for up to 3 days.
