Chocolate Mousse Layer Cake
Ingredients
For the chocolate cake base:
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (200g) sugar
½ cup (50g) cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 egg
½ cup (120ml) milk
¼ cup (60ml) vegetable oil
½ cup (120ml) hot water
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the white cream layer:
1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
½ cup (120g) cream cheese
¼ cup (50g) sugar
1 tsp vanilla
For the chocolate mousse layer:
200g dark chocolate
1 cup (240ml) heavy cream (whipped)
2 tbsp sugar
For the ganache topping:
150g dark chocolate
½ cup (120ml) heavy cream
Decoration:
Chocolate square
Whipped cream
Fresh berries (like blackberry or raspberry)

Instructions
1. Bake the cake base:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Mix all dry ingredients.
Add egg, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix well.
Add hot water and stir (batter will be thin).
Pour into a square pan and bake 20–25 minutes.
Let it cool completely.
2. Make the white cream layer:
Beat cream cheese + sugar until smooth.
Add whipped cream and vanilla.
Spread over the cooled cake.
Chill for 30 minutes.
3. Prepare chocolate mousse:
Melt chocolate and let cool slightly.
Fold into whipped cream gently.
Spread over the white layer.
Chill again for 1 hour.
4. Make ganache:
Heat cream until hot (not boiling).
Pour over chocolate and mix until smooth.
Pour over the cake evenly.
5. Decorate:
Add whipped cream swirls
Place chocolate piece and berries on top.
Final Step:
Refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours before serving for perfect layers.
