BUTTER CHICKEN RECIPE
Butter chicken is a dish of Indian origin that has gained popularity around the world thanks to its irresistible combination of flavors and textures. Butter chicken is known for its rich and complex combination of flavors.
Ingredients:
500g chicken breasts, cut into pieces,
2 butter spoons,
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil,
1 large onion, finely chopped,
4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 inch fresh ginger, grated,
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1/4 cup tomato paste,
1/2 cup of heavy cream or cooking cream,
1 teaspoon garam masala,
1 teaspoon ground cumin,
1 teaspoon ground coriander,
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder,
1/2 teaspoon paprika,
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon,
Salt to taste,
Ground black pepper to taste,
Chopped fresh cilantro, to decorate (optional).
Preparation:
In a large skillet, heat one tablespoon of butter and one tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until golden brown on all sides. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
In the same pan, add another tablespoon of butter. Add the chopped onion and cook until golden and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes, or until fragrant.
Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they break down and form a thick sauce. Add the tomato paste to the tomato and onion mixture, and cook for a few more minutes. Add the heavy cream (or cream) to the pan and mix well to combine all the ingredients.
Add the spices: garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, cinnamon, salt and pepper. Stir to evenly distribute the spices in the sauce. Add the browned chicken pieces to the pan and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little chicken broth or water to thin it out. Once the chicken is cooked and the sauce is the desired consistency, remove the pan from the heat.
Serve the butter chicken hot, accompanied by cooked basmati rice or naan (Indian flatbread).
Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro if desired. Enjoy this delicious and comforting butter chicken dish!
