Homemade hot dog bun

Hot dog bun, also known as hot dog bun, is a soft, long bun specially designed to wrap sausages. It is usually slightly sweet and is typically served halved to fill with sausage and a variety of condiments such as mustard, ketchup, onion and other ingredients of choice. It is an essential element in the preparation of classic hot dogs and provides a distinctive texture and flavor to this popular dish.

Ingredients

For the mass:

• 1 cup of warm milk

• 2 tablespoons of sugar

• 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

• 1/4 cup warm water

• 3 cups of wheat flour

• 1 teaspoon salt

• 2 tablespoons melted butter

• 1 egg

To decorate:

• Sesame or poppy seeds

• Beaten egg to varnish

Before making homemade hot dog buns, make sure you have all the ingredients and utensils ready, including flour, yeast, salt, and a mixer or dough mixer. Also, heat the oven to the right temperature to achieve soft, golden bread.

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl, mix the warm milk with the sugar. Next, sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another large bowl, mix the flour and salt.
  3. Add the activated yeast mixture, warm water, melted butter and egg to the flour mixture. Mix everything until you obtain a homogeneous mass.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean, damp cloth, and let the dough rest in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  7. After the dough has doubled in size, divide it into desired size portions for the hot dog buns. You can usually make 8 to 10 loaves with this recipe.
  8. Shape each portion of dough into an oblong shape and place on a floured or parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  9. Optionally, you can brush the bread with beaten egg and sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top.
  10. Bake the loaves in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  11. Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool on a rack before cutting them in half and serving with your favorite sausages or sausages. Enjoy your homemade hot dogs with freshly baked bread! You can customize them with your favorite condiments and dressings.
