Marshmallows
Making your own marshmallows is easier than you think. You can conjure up the airy sweet in your kitchen using just 6 ingredients. With this recipe you can make the delicious marshmallow yourself.
INGREDIENTS (For 25 pieces)
4 tbsp cornstarch
300g powdered sugar
120 ml cold water
2 packs of ground gelatin
Some pink food coloring
1 tsp vanilla paste
PREPARATION
1st step
Set a baking frame to 20 x 20 cm and place it on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Cover the base well with 2 tablespoons of starch.
2nd step
Sift the powdered sugar into a mixing bowl. Pour cold water into a separate bowl and let the ground gelatine soak in it for about 5 minutes. As soon as the gelatine has visibly swollen, dissolve it over a warm water bath.
3rd step
Place the mixing bowl with the powdered sugar in a food processor and insert the whisk. Set the food processor to low speed and carefully add the liquid gelatine to the powdered sugar. Beat everything until light and fluffy for several minutes.
4th step
Switch off the machine briefly and add a small amount of food coloring to the desired color and refine the mixture with vanilla extract. Then continue to beat everything at the highest level. The marshmallow mixture should be whipped on high for at least 10-15 minutes.
5th step
Immediately pour the mixture into the prepared baking frame and spread it flat with an angled palette. Dust the surface of the mixture with the remaining starch and let the marshmallows set for about 2 hours at room temperature.
6th step
Using a smooth, clean knife, cut the marshmallows into 5 x 5 cm squares. The recipe makes 25 homemade marshmallows. These will keep cool, dry and airtight for at least 7 days.
