Homemade chocolate crepes

Easy homemade chocolate crepes recipe

Chocolate crepes are a delicious twist on traditional crepes, incorporating cocoa powder and other chocolate-related ingredients to give them a more intense and enjoyable chocolate flavor.  Crepes themselves are a type of thin, light pancakes that can be filled with a variety of sweet or savory ingredients, and in the case of chocolate crepes, the filling and topping often also include chocolate in different forms.

Ingredients

For the crepe batter:

• 1 cup of wheat flour

• 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder

• 2 tablespoons of sugar

• 1/4 teaspoon salt

• 3 eggs

• 1 and 1/2 cups of milk

• 2 tablespoons melted butter

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the filling and topping:

• Melted chocolate

• Strawberries or fruits of your choice

• Whipped cream (optional)

• Powdered sugar (optional)

Preparation:

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.  Mix these dry ingredients well.

2. In another bowl, beat the eggs.  Next, add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.  Mix until everything is well combined.

3. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until you have a smooth dough.  If there are some lumps left, that’s okay, but try to minimize them.

4. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.  You can lightly grease the pan with a little butter or oil if you wish.

5. Pour some of the crepe batter into the hot pan and rotate the pan to spread the batter into a thin, even circle.

6. Cook the crepe for about 1-2 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the top is cooked.  Then carefully flip the crepe over and cook the other side for another minute or so.

7. Repeat this process with the rest of the dough until you have made all the crepes.

8. Once you have all the crepes ready, you can fill them.  Add some melted chocolate and some chopped strawberries (or fruit of your choice) to the center of each crepe.

9. Fold the crepes into quarters to form a triangle or fold them into rolls, depending on your preference.

10. If you wish, you can add whipped cream to the top of the crepes and sprinkle a little icing sugar to decorate.


Ready!  Now you can enjoy your delicious chocolate crepes.  You can customize them by adding more ingredients such as chopped nuts, chocolate chips or any other topping you like.
