Meatballs stuffed with cheese
Meatballs stuffed with cheese are a delicious variant that combines the juiciness of the meatballs with the creaminess of the cheese inside. This versatile dish is perfect to accompany pastas, rice dishes or enjoy as an appetizer.
Ingredients
For the meatballs:
• 500 g of ground meat (beef, pork, chicken or a mix)
• 1 egg
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
• 1/4 cup of milk
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon pepper
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
For the filling:
• Cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or your choice) in small pieces
• Stuffed olives or capers (optional)
For the sauce:
• 2 cups crushed tomatoes (you can use canned tomatoes or crush fresh tomatoes)
• 1 chopped onion
• 2 cloves of garlic, minced
• 1 teaspoon of sugar
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Olive oil
Make sure the meatballs are well-seasoned to enhance the flavor, and when filling them with cheese, use varieties that melt easily for a deliciously creamy center. Enjoy cooking!
Preparation
• In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with the egg, breadcrumbs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add fresh chopped parsley if desired.
• Form small meat balls and place a piece of cheese in the center of each ball. Make sure to seal the meat tightly around the cheese so it doesn’t escape during cooking. You can also add stuffed olives or capers in the center.
• Heat some olive oil in a large frying pan. Brown the meatballs on all sides until cooked through.
• Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, add a little more oil if necessary and sauté the onion and garlic until golden.
• Add the crushed tomato, sugar, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat for about 15-20 minutes so that the sauce takes on flavor.
• Return the meatballs to the pan with the sauce and simmer for another 15 minutes, making sure the meatballs are cooked through in the center.
And ready! Serve the stuffed meatballs with your favorite topping, whether pasta, rice or bread. Enjoy!
