Duplo cake
Duplo cake is perfect for every birthday. The moist chocolate bases are layered with a delicious mascarpone cream. The simple recipe for the cake with Duplo is guaranteed to be a hit with young and old!
INGREDIENTS (For a 20cm tin)
FOR THE CAKE BASE
150 g dark chocolate
250 g butter
4 eggs (size M)
200 g sugar
150 g marzipan
200 g wheat flour (type 405)
40 g baking cocoa
2 tsp baking powder
160 ml milk
7 chocolate bars
FOR THE CREAM
500 g mascarpone
200 g cream
2 tbsp icing sugar
2 tsp baking cocoa
ALSO
100 g whole milk chocolate
2 packs of chocolate bars
PREPARATION
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees top/bottom heat (fan oven: 160 degrees). Line a springform pan (Ø 20 cm) with baking paper. For the dough, chop the dark chocolate into fine pieces and melt it together with the butter in a metal bowl over a water bath.
Step 2
Beat the eggs with the sugar until frothy. Cut the marzipan into small cubes and heat slightly in the microwave, add to the egg-sugar mixture and stir until creamy. Mix and sift the flour, cocoa and baking powder.
Step 3
Let the chocolate-butter mixture cool slightly, then pour into the egg mixture and beat with it. Add the dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture and stir in. Finally, add the milk to the dough and stir everything until smooth. Cut 7 Duplos into small pieces and mix into the dough.
4th step
Pour the chocolate dough into the prepared baking pan, smooth it out and bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 160 degrees top/bottom heat (fan oven: 140 degrees) and continue baking the cake for about 55 minutes, don’t forget to do the toothpick test.
