Juicy mulled wine cake

Juicy mulled wine cake

The juicy mulled wine cake impresses not only with its appearance but also with its taste.   With all the spices it fits perfectly into the Christmas season.

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE CAKE
250 g soft butter
180g sugar
1 pack of vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
4 eggs
250 g flour
2 tbsp baking cocoa
1 pack of baking powder
200 ml mulled wine (or red wine)
200 g chocolate shavings
some butter for the mold

FOR THE ICCING

200g powdered sugar
3 tbsp mulled wine (or red wine)

PREPARATION

1st step
Grease a bundt cake tin (Ø 22 cm) and preheat the oven to 180 degrees (fan oven: 160 degrees).  First beat the butter with the vanilla sugar, sugar and salt until fluffy.  Then stir in the eggs.  In a separate bowl, mix flour with baking powder and cocoa powder.  Alternately stir the mulled wine and the flour mixture into the dough.  Fold in the chocolate shavings and pour the dough into the mold.  Spread evenly and bake for about 45 minutes.  Allow to cool completely.

2nd step
Turn the bundt cake onto a wire rack and turn it once so that the narrow part of the cake faces upwards.  Mix the powdered sugar and mulled wine together and pour over the cake.  Allow the casting to set for approx. 30 minutes.

Our tip: The alternative outside the Christmas season!

If there is no mulled wine available, you can of course easily make this recipe with red wine.  This guarantees that the cake will be just as juicy.
