The chocolate sponge cake is a delicious dessert that combines the sponginess of a traditional sponge cake with the intense flavor of chocolate. Ingredients:

• 1 cup of wheat flour

• 1 cup of sugar

• 1/2 cup of cocoa powder

• 1 teaspoon of baking powder

• 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1/2 cup of milk

• 1/4 cup vegetable oil (such as canola or sunflower oil)

• 2 eggs

• 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

• 1/2 cup of hot water

Preparing this delicious homemade chocolate cake is extremely simple. Just follow the steps and you will be enjoying this recipe in no time.

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a cake pan, or use parchment paper to line the bottom.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix these dry ingredients well.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the milk, oil and vanilla extract to the egg and sugar mixture. Mix until all liquid ingredients are well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the liquid ingredients, mixing gently. Do not over mix, only until the dough is homogeneous.
  6. Add the hot water to the dough and stir until fully incorporated. The dough will be quite runny, but that is normal.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Once ready, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Then, unmold the cake and place it on a wire rack to cool completely. And that’s it! You will have a delicious chocolate cake ready to enjoy. You can decorate it with icing, fresh fruit or sprinkle some icing sugar on top if you like. Enjoy!
