Meat pie

Meatloaf is a comforting and versatile dish that combines a juicy mixture of minced meat with vegetables and spices, all wrapped in a delicious pastry. Its tantalizing aroma and satisfying flavor make it a home cooking classic in many cultures. A perfect choice for a comfort meal for any occasion!

Ingredients:

• 500g of minced meat (you can use beef, pork, or a mixture of both)

• 1 large onion, chopped

• 2 cloves of garlic, minced

• 1 large carrot, grated

• 1 red pepper, chopped

• 2 tablespoons of olive oil

• 1 can of crushed tomato (400g)

• 1 tablespoon tomato paste

• 1 teaspoon dried oregano

• 1 teaspoon cumin powder

• Salt and pepper to taste

• 1 sheet of shortcrust pastry or puff pastry

Make sure to season the meat well to enhance its flavor. Also, don’t skimp on the dough, a good base is crucial for a delicious meat pie.

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until golden and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced meat to the pan and cook until golden brown and cooked through, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
  4. Add the grated carrot and chopped pepper to the pan and cook for a few minutes until tender.
  5. Add the crushed tomato, tomato paste, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients well and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, so that the flavors mix.
  6. Meanwhile, line a tart pan with the shortcrust or puff pastry, pressing well on the edges.
  7. Pour the meat mixture over the dough in the tart pan.
  8. Cover the cake with another sheet of shortcrust pastry or puff pastry, sealing the edges well.
  9. Make a few small slits in the top of the dough to allow steam to escape while baking.
  10. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crispy.
  11. Let cool slightly before cutting and serving. I hope you enjoy this delicious meat pie!
