Fried Cocoa Swivels


– 1 egg
– 140g (0.7 cup) sugar
– 70ml (0.3 cup) oil
– 10g vanilla sugar
– 450g (3.6 cups) all-purpose flour
– 170ml (0.7 cup) water
– 10g baking powder
– 15g cocoa


1. In a bowl, beat the egg and mix it with sugar, oil, and vanilla sugar until well combined.

2. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and cocoa.

3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with water. Mix until a dough forms.

4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.

5. Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle.

6. Cut the rectangle into strips, about 2 inches wide.

7. Heat oil in a pan for frying.

8. Twist each strip into a swivel shape and fry in the hot oil until golden brown.

9. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.

10. Dust with powdered sugar or cocoa powder before serving.
