Puff pastry ears

Puff pastry ears

Puff Pastry Ears are delicious baked morsels made by folding and baking thin layers of sugared puff pastry.  Their name comes from the shape they acquire during the baking process, similar to ears.  These crunchy delights are popular in baking, serving as the perfect accompaniment to coffee or tea.

Ingredients:

• 1 sheet of puff pastry (you can buy it at the store or make it at home)

• Sugar

• Cinnamon (optional)

Make sure the puff pastry is very cold before you start, as this will help give you a crispier, flakier result.  Also, when baking, monitor the temperature to prevent them from browning too quickly.

Preparation:

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

2. Sprinkle a work surface with a little flour and roll out the puff pastry sheet so that it is approximately 30×20 cm.

3. Sprinkle sugar over the entire surface of the puff pastry.  If you want, you can also sprinkle a little cinnamon for an extra touch of flavor.

4. Fold the puff pastry sheet in half lengthwise, pressing lightly so the sugar adheres.

5. Cut the puff pastry into strips approximately 1 cm wide.

6. Take each strip and stretch it slightly, then fold each end toward the center so they meet.

7. Place the strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the puff pastry ears are golden and crispy.

9. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.

And ready!  Now you have delicious puff pastry ears.  You can enjoy them alone or accompany them with your favorite hot drink.  I hope you like them!
