Meatloaf is a comforting and versatile dish that combines a juicy mixture of minced meat with vegetables and spices, all wrapped in a delicious pastry. Its tantalizing aroma and satisfying flavor make it a home cooking classic in many cultures. A perfect choice for a comfort meal for any occasion!
Ingredients:
• 500g of minced meat (you can use beef, pork, or a mixture of both)
• 1 large onion, chopped
• 2 cloves of garlic, minced
• 1 large carrot, grated
• 1 red pepper, chopped
• 2 tablespoons of olive oil
• 1 can of crushed tomato (400g)
• 1 tablespoon tomato paste
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1 teaspoon cumin powder
• Salt and pepper to taste
• 1 sheet of shortcrust pastry or puff pastry
Make sure to season the meat well to enhance its flavor. Also, don’t skimp on the dough, a good base is crucial for a delicious meat pie.
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and cook until golden and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced meat to the pan and cook until golden brown and cooked through, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
- Add the grated carrot and chopped pepper to the pan and cook for a few minutes until tender.
- Add the crushed tomato, tomato paste, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients well and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes, so that the flavors mix.
- Meanwhile, line a tart pan with the shortcrust or puff pastry, pressing well on the edges.
- Pour the meat mixture over the dough in the tart pan.
- Cover the cake with another sheet of shortcrust pastry or puff pastry, sealing the edges well.
- Make a few small slits in the top of the dough to allow steam to escape while baking.
- Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crispy.
- Let cool slightly before cutting and serving. I hope you enjoy this delicious meat pie!
