Minced meat roll

Minced meat roll is a traditional dish that consists of ground meat rolled and filled with ingredients such as eggs, vegetables and spices.  It is cooked in the oven or in a pot, resulting in a juicy and flavorful delicacy, perfect to share at family gatherings or as an appetizer.  Its versatility allows it to be adapted to different culinary preferences, making it a classic of world gastronomy.

Ingredients:

• 500g minced meat (you can use beef, pork, chicken or a mix)

• 1 egg

• 1 cup of breadcrumbs

• 1 large onion chopped

• 2 cloves of garlic, minced

• 1 grated carrot

• 1 chopped red pepper

• 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

• Salt and pepper to taste

• Olive oil

For the filling (optional):

• Ham slices

• Cheese slices

• Olives

• Boiled eggs

Remember to season the meat well to enhance its flavor and don’t forget to moisten a clean cloth to then roll the roll easily.  Enjoy the process and delicious result!

Preparation:

• Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

• In a large bowl, mix the minced meat with the egg, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, carrot, red pepper, parsley, salt and pepper.  Knead well until all the ingredients are completely integrated.

• Spread the meat mixture on a flat surface, forming an even rectangle.

• If you want to add filling, distribute the slices of ham, cheese, olives or hard-boiled eggs (or any other ingredient of your choice) over the minced meat.

• Carefully roll the meat from one end, making sure the filling stays inside.  You can help yourself with plastic wrap to roll it up better.

• Place the roll on a baking tray previously greased with a little olive oil.

• Bake the roll in the preheated oven for approximately 45-50 minutes, or until cooked through and golden on the outside.

• Once ready, remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before cutting into slices and serving.

And ready!  You have a delicious minced meat roll ready to enjoy.  You can accompany it with a fresh salad, mashed potatoes or your favorite garnishes.  Enjoy!
